Kingston Police Investigate West End Homicide

The Kingston Police are investigating a homicide after a man who was taken to the hospital following an assault later died from his injuries.


Police say officers were called to Kingston General Hospital on the evening of December 30, 2025, after an unidentified male patient died as a result of injuries believed to have been caused by an assault.


The victim was later identified as 34-year-old Kingston resident Jayme Shawn Syring.


Investigators determined the assault occurred at a residence in the 2600 block of Princess Street.


The Kingston Police Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Forensic Identification Section and Patrol Division, launched a murder investigation.


A search warrant was executed at a residence in the 100 block of Sutherland Drive.


During the morning hours of January 1, 2026, police, with assistance from the Street Crime Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit, arrested a 51-year-old Kingston man.


Kingston Police have not released the identity of the accused at this time.


The accused is scheduled to appear in bail court on January 2, 2026.


Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional evidence is still being collected. Investigators believe the incident was isolated and that there is no ongoing risk to public safety. No other injuries were reported.
