As ghosts, ghouls, and superheroes take to Ontario’s streets tonight, excitement fills the autumn air, and so do the glowing lights of eager trick-or-treaters.
Halloween is one of the most magical nights of the year, but it’s also a time to stay alert and make safety part of the fun.
Here’s how to keep this fright-filled evening safe, spirited, and unforgettable.
👻 For Trick-or-Treaters
Light up the night: Carry a flashlight or glow stick, and add reflective tape to costumes or treat bags. It helps drivers see you, and adds an eerie glow to your outfit!
Stick to the sidewalks: Walk in well-lit areas, cross at corners, and look both ways before crossing the street.
Costume comfort check: Make sure costumes fit properly to avoid trips and falls. If a mask limits vision, try face paint instead.
Buddy system: Trick-or-treating is always better and safer in groups. Younger children should have an adult close by at all times
🕸️ For Drivers
Slow down and stay alert: Expect little monsters to appear between parked cars or dart across the street.
Stay focused: Keep your eyes on the road and your phone away. Headlights on early help spot children at dusk.
Mind the decorations: Halloween displays can block sightlines, take corners with extra care.
🕯️ For Homeowners
Clear the path: Sweep away wet leaves and remove cords or obstacles that could trip visitors.
Light your walkway: A well-lit entrance not only shows off your décor but keeps trick-or-treaters safe.
Candy with care: Offer sealed, peanut-free, or allergen-friendly treats when possible.
🦇 Community Reminder
Ontario police and first responders are encouraging everyone to take it slow, be visible, and make safety part of the celebration.
If you see suspicious activity or a safety concern, contact your local police non-emergency line, or dial 911 in emergencies.
Let’s make Halloween 2025 one to remember, full of laughter, creativity, and just the right amount of fright.
Please share this reminder with others. Let's all have a safe and fun night.
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻
