Police Impersonation Investigation Underway in Kawartha Lakes

Kawartha Lakes, ON — June 13, 2025 — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a troubling case of police impersonation that occurred on Friday evening along Highway 35 and County Road 36 in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

According to OPP reports, a male suspect operating a white SUV resembling a police cruiser was observed attempting to pull over drivers while using red flashing lights — a tactic often used to imitate real law enforcement vehicles. The SUV was not a marked police vehicle, but witnesses noted it had features and behavior that could easily confuse unsuspecting drivers.

The incident unfolded on June 13 and prompted an immediate response from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment, who are now seeking public assistance in identifying the individual responsible.
