Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue (PECFR) has confirmed that the current full burn ban remains in effect, but it will be eased to a partial burn ban beginning tomorrow, Friday, August 29.
The adjustment comes as conditions improve, though fire officials stress that some restrictions will remain in place. Under the partial burn ban:
Burning is only allowed in a container with a screened top or in a small campfire.
Propane-fueled appliances, including barbeques and fire tables, are exempt under the County’s Open-Air Burning By-law.
The partial ban will remain until PECFR determines the fire risk has lowered enough to allow more flexibility.
Residents can check the current burn status anytime by calling 1-833-376-1011 or visiting http://pec.burnpermits.com.
