Environment Canada says snowfall will begin early Monday morning and taper off later in the afternoon.

5 to 10 centimetres of snow is expected, along with reduced visibility at times when snowfall becomes heavier.

While the total snowfall may be relatively modest, forecasters say the timing could make it more disruptive than it sounds. With the holiday season now behind us and traffic volumes returning to normal, the snow is expected to have a greater impact on the Monday morning commute.

Drivers and pedestrians should be prepared for snow-covered roads, slippery sidewalks, and changing visibility, particularly during peak travel hours. Accumulating snow may lead to slower traffic and an increased risk of collisions, especially during the morning rush.

Motorists are being encouraged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time for travel. Staying alert and adjusting driving habits to the conditions can help reduce the risk when winter weather moves in.

Small Town News will continue to monitor conditions as they develop and will report any additional road closures in their own article.
