Tyendinaga Man Facing Multiple Charges After Failing to Stop for Belleville Police

A 53-year-old Tyendinaga man is facing multiple charges after Belleville Police say he failed to stop for officers during an attempted traffic stop Tuesday night.
On August 11th, 2026, at approximately 11:26 p.m., Belleville Police observed a vehicle travelling in the area of Dundas Street and Burnham Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
According to police, the driver failed to stop and continued driving. The vehicle eventually pulled into a parking lot, where officers spoke with the male driver.
During the interaction, a woman attended the area and advised officers that the driver was there to pick her up.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was subject to several court-ordered conditions, including a condition prohibiting him from communicating with the woman.
Multiple Charges Laid
As a result of the investigation, the 53-year-old Tyendinaga man was arrested and charged with:
Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
Failure to comply with release order - three counts
Driving while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act
Fail to stop for police under the Highway Traffic Act
Insecure load under the Highway Traffic Act
Driver fail to surrender licence under the Highway Traffic Act
Novice driver fail to provide breath sample under the Highway Traffic Act
Class G1 licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver under the Highway Traffic Act
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
