Early this morning Rogers Network went dark due to an unknown source behind the outages. The services affected are Mobile, Internet and TV. Interac systems in stores across Canada are also facing an outage of unknown origin according to an official BMO Representative. Some citizens are saying it could be the result of a solar flare, some are saying it could be a cyber attack on our infrastructure from Russia, and some are also saying it could be a janitor that knocked a cord loose in the main server room. A Tornado hit a small town in Ontario on July 24th only leaving nothing but havoc and destruction for the citizens of Marmora, Ontario and neighbouring communities nearby. The Tornado formed very quickly and touched down in Marmora Ontario officially as reports have said. It also caused damage in Marmora, Madoc, Rockdale, Antinolite and Tweed, as well as Cordova in the Havelock area. Marmora saw roofs and houses being ripped apart, as well as trees down on the roads. Rockdale saw much of the same but there were also trailers flipped on their side with the extent of injuries being unknown. There was also damage to homes in Antonolite and Tweed. Trees were down in all of these communities causing issues with downed power lines, creating power outages. Thankfully very few injuries were reported at the time of the tornado and emergency crews including hydro one as well as other power generation companies are working hard and diligently to restore hydro and the roadways in the area. The Canadian National Exhibition returns to Toronto, Ontario this summer. It is set to take place from August 19th to September 5th and it boasts a ton of events for the festival. The grounds open on the first day at 10AM. The grounds for the CNE will open at the same time every day that the exhibition is scheduled to take place. The main difference is Labor Day where instead of closing at 12AM like the rest of the duration, the exhibition is set to close at 9PM on Labor Day. (admission/entry is cut off at 5PM on Labor Day) The event runs for several days and the events are not to be missed! The CNE has a HorseCapades show that is free and set to take place just prior to the exhibition opening. Almost as an opener for the event. You can see and interact with some horses from July 31 to August 18 the shows are at 11:30AM and 1:00PM. There is also the Super Dogs show that runs daily during the 2022 CNE at 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m., & 6:30 p.m. Mondays thru Thursdays, and 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m., & 6:30 p.m. Fridays thru Sundays. The CNE also has an airshow that is a must-see running from September 3rd to the 5th. Queen Elizabeth the 2nd died today on Thursday, September 8th, 2022 in Balmoral Castle, United Kingdom. She is the country's longest ruler for approximately 70 years. She had just overseen the appointment of her 15th prime minister only a few days ago. The news comes as a shock to Great Britain and its citizens, as well as the royal family. Her son Charles is set to take the reins and will become King Charles the 3rd or King Charles III if you prefer roman numerals. It is with great respect and honour that the country reflects the loss of their queen who was the longest-serving monarch in Great Britain to date. OPP had their hands full today September 19th 2022. There were various reports of horses loose on the 401 heading WB towards Toronto. Officers spent several hours trying to round them up. It is unknown how the horses arrived on the major highway and currently, the OPP are still attempting to round up the horses that have made their way onto the 401 in the WB direction. Corralling the horses could take several hours as they seem to be quite evasive. If you are travelling on the 401 WB be on the lookout for these horses and remember to be extra vigilant when driving. Make sure to pay attention to your surroundings at all times and if you see any other horses on the 401 today, make sure to let the opp or your nearest police officer know . Multiple Emergency Personnel including Police and Fire Departments were called in to help battle a substantially large fire that erupted in Belleville's East End early Monday Morning. The Fire was mainly on the corner of Haig Rd. and Station St., approximately 150 residents in the area are still being asked to avoid the area until further notice. Burnt styrofoam can be toxic to both humans and especially to pets and other animals. Residents if they choose to remain in the area are being asked and advised not to clear debris off of their vehicles or their properties. It is also said that residents will be advised by officials when it is safe to return to their homes. On Thursday afternoon the Belleville Police Service received reports of a shooting on Pine St. At around 1:50pm. The suspect in question is a black male, approximately 5'10" in height and was wearing a black hoodie. A male in his 30's was taken to BGH (Belleville General Hospital) with gunshot wounds and is currently in unknown condition. Multiple schools in the area were placed on a secure and hold until 3pm approximately. There is a new Tim Horton's location in the township of Stirling-Rawdon. This is certainly a first for the good folks of Stirling. A lot of interest has been shown over the years in having a Tim Hortons but that depends on who you ask. Some residents prefer their traditional morning coffee at home or some even prefer picking up a coffee on the way out of town at the Shell gas station right beside the new Tim Hortons, as they serve country-style donuts and coffee. Some don't like Tim Hortons coffee at all and some think it will be a negative impact on traffic flow in that area as it is located at the bottom of Oak Lake along the main highway from Stirling to Belleville Ontario.
