Queen Elizabeth the 2nd died today on Thursday, September 8th, 2022 in Balmoral Castle, United Kingdom. She is the country's longest ruler for approximately 70 years. She had just overseen the appointment of her 15th prime minister only a few days ago. The news comes as a shock to Great Britain and its citizens, as well as the royal family. Her son Charles is set to take the reins and will become King Charles the 3rd or King Charles III if you prefer roman numerals. It is with great respect and honour that the country reflects the loss of their queen who was the longest-serving monarch in Great Britain to date. OPP had their hands full today September 19th 2022. There were various reports of horses loose on the 401 heading WB towards Toronto. Officers spent several hours trying to round them up. It is unknown how the horses arrived on the major highway and currently, the OPP are still attempting to round up the horses that have made their way onto the 401 in the WB direction. Corralling the horses could take several hours as they seem to be quite evasive. If you are travelling on the 401 WB be on the lookout for these horses and remember to be extra vigilant when driving. Make sure to pay attention to your surroundings at all times and if you see any other horses on the 401 today, make sure to let the opp or your nearest police officer know . Multiple Emergency Personnel including Police and Fire Departments were called in to help battle a substantially large fire that erupted in Belleville's East End early Monday Morning. The Fire was mainly on the corner of Haig Rd. and Station St., approximately 150 residents in the area are still being asked to avoid the area until further notice. Burnt styrofoam can be toxic to both humans and especially to pets and other animals. Residents if they choose to remain in the area are being asked and advised not to clear debris off of their vehicles or their properties. It is also said that residents will be advised by officials when it is safe to return to their homes. On Thursday afternoon the Belleville Police Service received reports of a shooting on Pine St. At around 1:50pm. The suspect in question is a black male, approximately 5'10" in height and was wearing a black hoodie. A male in his 30's was taken to BGH (Belleville General Hospital) with gunshot wounds and is currently in unknown condition. Multiple schools in the area were placed on a secure and hold until 3pm approximately. There is a new Tim Horton's location in the township of Stirling-Rawdon. This is certainly a first for the good folks of Stirling. A lot of interest has been shown over the years in having a Tim Hortons but that depends on who you ask. Some residents prefer their traditional morning coffee at home or some even prefer picking up a coffee on the way out of town at the Shell gas station right beside the new Tim Hortons, as they serve country-style donuts and coffee. Some don't like Tim Hortons coffee at all and some think it will be a negative impact on traffic flow in that area as it is located at the bottom of Oak Lake along the main highway from Stirling to Belleville Ontario. It is hard to say how the town will receive it as a whole, but for those that have been asking for years for a Tim Hortons, their dream is finally a reality. One person has sadly passed away following an incident at the 640 College Street East construction site in Belleville’s Industrial Park over the weekend. Small Town Productions has received details from various sources regarding the tragedy. The one million square foot industrial warehouse is currently under construction and is rumoured to be an Amazon Distribution Centre. The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills has been notified of the incident and has confirmed the death of one person. The ministry has shared its condolences with the deceased's friends and family. The company overseeing the project, KCK Contracting, has been given two ministry orders. Broccolini Construction and secondary employers Canam Group Inc., and Enterprises Eric Lemire Inc., have also received ministry requirements, though these have not been made public.
