The system is expected to move in on Friday morning , continue throughout the day and overnight, and gradually move out of the region Saturday morning . Snow may mix with rain at times on Friday afternoon and evening , which could lead to slushy conditions before temperatures drop later in the night. As temperatures fall Friday night, icy roads and sidewalks may develop , increasing the risk of slippery travel conditions. Residents Are Advised To: • Slow down and allow extra time when travelling, especially during periods of heavier snowfall and reduced visibility. • Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and be prepared for changing road conditions. • Use caution when walking, as sidewalks and walkways may become slippery as snow accumulates. • Wear proper winter footwear to reduce the risk of slips and falls. • Take frequent breaks when clearing snow and avoid overexertion, particularly with heavier snow. • Dress in layers and protect exposed skin when spending extended time outdoors. | Small Town News | A Division of Small Town Productions | A Belleville man is facing multiple charges following an incident that began with a verbal dispute and escalated during an arrest on Wednesday morning. According to the Belleville Police Service, officers on general patrol around 10:16 a.m. on March 11th, observed a man and a woman engaged in a heated verbal argument. Police stopped to speak with the individuals and began an investigation into the situation. During the interaction, the male reportedly provided officers with a false name. As police continued looking into the matter, they determined the man was bound by conditions that prohibited him from communicating with the woman. Officers then moved to place the man under arrest for breaching those conditions. Police say the suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended a short distance away. While in custody, the man allegedly spat on one of the officers. As a result of the incident, a 28-year-old Belleville man with no fixed address was arrested. He is facing several charges, including assaulting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. No names have been released by Belleville Police at this time. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing. Update: She is home safe and sound, thank you all for your shares. Residents in Havelock are being asked to keep watch after a dog went missing early this morning in the area of George Street East. Mazie, a four year old German Shepherd, was last seen around 7:00 a.m. near George Street East in Havelock. Her owners say it is very unusual for her to leave the yard, as she normally stays close to home and typically returns when called. Mazie is described as very shy and skittish . While she is a sweet dog, she is nervous around strangers and may run if approached. At the time she went missing, Mazie was wearing a collar with a tag that included contact information . Because of her timid nature, residents are being asked not to chase or attempt to grab her  if she is spotted. Doing so could cause her to run further away. Instead, anyone who sees Mazie is asked to note the location and contact her owners immediately  so they can respond. Anyone who sees Mazie is encouraged to contact Raven on her Facebook page. | Small Town News | A Division of Small Town Productions | A rainfall warning by Environment Canada has been put in effect for the Quinte region as a weather system moves into eastern Ontario, but temperatures hovering near the freezing mark could introduce the possibility of freezing rain. Forecasters expect precipitation to begin overnight across Belleville, Quinte West, and surrounding communities, with significant rainfall possible going into Wednesday morning as the system moves throughout the region. However, overnight temperatures are expected to sit very close to 0°C. When temperatures are this close to freezing, even a slight drop can cause rain to freeze on contact with colder surfaces such as roads, trees, and power lines. While rain remains the most likely outcome overall, the narrow temperature margin means some areas could briefly see freezing rain before temperatures rise later in the day. Hydro One has also sent precautionary alerts to some customers advising that weather conditions could potentially lead to localized power outages. Ice accumulation on power lines and tree branches is one of the key factors utilities monitor closely when temperatures hover near freezing during precipitation events. Conditions are expected to warm up on Wednesday, allowing precipitation to fall mainly as rain across the Quinte region. Still, the overnight and early morning hours may present the greatest uncertainty as the system arrives. Officials continue to monitor the developing system, and additional advisories could be issued if conditions shift toward freezing rain. | Small Town News | A Division of Small Town Productions | A request for public assistance was released today by the Peterborough Police Service as officers continue to investigate a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in Peterborough. Police say the incident happened at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8th, 2026 , inside an apartment within a residence on George Street just south of Parkhill Road . One person was injured in the shooting and airlifted to a Toronto hospital for treatment . Authorities have not released further details about the victim’s condition. Investigators say they have determined that the shooting was targeted and connected to drug trafficking within the community , according to information released by police. In a statement issued today, Stu Betts, Chief of the Peterborough Police Service , acknowledged the concern incidents like this can create within the community. “I understand that these incidents strike at residents’ feelings of safety in their community,” Betts said. “To date, we have ascertained that this was a targeted shooting and that it is connected to the drug subculture. While I am unable to speak to the specifics of an investigation, the Peterborough Police Service and our officers are committed to working toward finding the people responsible and bringing them before the courts.” Betts also emphasized that community cooperation will play a key role  in helping investigators move the case forward. “Information is a key component of determining answers,” he said. “My position on the presence and use of illicit substances in our community has been clear. I do not tolerate it; it leads to the proliferation of other crimes.” Police are specifically asking anyone who may have security or dash-cam footage from the area around 4:00 p.m last Sunday  to come forward. A Belleville man is facing firearms-related charges following a police investigation at a residence earlier this week. According to the Belleville Police Service, officers attended a residence on March 6 for a request for police assistance. While at the location, police received information that a male inside the residence was in possession of a firearm. During their investigation, officers located a firearm that police allege was being stored improperly. As a result, a 25-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with the following offences: Unauthorized possession of a firearm Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition Police say the accused was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in April, and would like to remind gun owner's authorized/prohibited firearms are illegal, and all authorized/registered firearms require proper storage. He arrived back home at approximately 9:20 a.m. this morning, according to his family. Family members and police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing youth from the Madoc area. Remi Leduc-Blakely, 14 , has been reported missing. He is described as approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a slim build . Remi was last seen wearing black track pants and a green Reebok hoodie with the word “Reebok” written in black across the front . According to information provided by family members, the Ontario Provincial Police searched for approximately an hour and a half tonight but did not successfully locate Remi . The search was ultimately called off after officers were unable to locate him and had no immediate leads . Remi is a kinship child and lives with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) , which can affect decision-making. Because of this, his family is extremely concerned for his well-being . Community members are being asked to remain alert and report any possible sightings . Members of the Belleville Police Service attended the home on March 5th after receiving a report related to an occurrence that had taken place on March 2nd. Police were informed that a male had attended the residence of a female occupant, where he allegedly began striking the windows and eventually broke one while attempting to gain entry into the home. During the course of the investigation, officers also received information that the suspect had used the woman’s credit card to conduct several transactions without permission. It was further reported that threats had been made toward the victim. Police later located the suspect and attempted to take him into custody. During the arrest, the male briefly attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended a short distance away. As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old man from Madoc was arrested and charged with:
