A devastating tragedy occurred on Thursday at Sandbanks Provincial Park, where a 3-year-old child lost their life after drowning in shallow water during a family outing. Emergency crews, including the OPP, paramedics, fire services, and park wardens, responded quickly after reports of a missing child. Bystanders helped locate the child and bring them to shore, where life-saving efforts were immediately started. Sadly, despite their best efforts, the child was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The child’s name has not been released, out of respect for the family’s privacy. Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information to contact 1‑888‑310‑1122. Over 53,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), which represents both urban and rural/suburban workers, are participating in a federally mandated vote running from July 21 to August 1. The vote was ordered by the Minister of Labour and is being overseen by the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) following a prolonged negotiation process.
